LINCOLN, NE: Networking opportunities abound at the 2019 OCIA Annual General Membership Meeting, February 6th-7th at the Grand Harbor Resort and Waterpark in Dubuque, Iowa. While EVERYONE is invited to attend a great line-up of presentations on Feb 6th, OCIA members-only will conduct the business portion of their meeting on Feb 7th. If you have ever thought about transitioning your farm to organic, this is the place for you.

Ron Rabou, co-author of a self-help book, "Keep it Simple: The 12 Core Values that Lead to Personal and Professional Success" and past host of the radio program, "ReThink on the Radio," will share his experience transitioning his organic wheat farm in Wyoming. Katja Koehler-Cole will present her micro grant results pertaining to weed control using cover crops in organic soybeans. Joel Gruver, a professor at Western Illinois University, will speak on cover crops and his research results using radishes and turnips. Randy Mosel, an OCIA certified farmer will discuss farming methods that have worked well on his organic farm. Scott Shriver has much to tell on roller crimping in Iowa. And, several organic seed dealers will discuss the latest offerings from their companies.

OCIA’s 2019 Annual Meeting is unique in that it will follow a ‘FarmStarts’ Beginning Farmers Series so that transitioning farmers can attend two full days of educational workshops, all in Dubuque, Iowa. The Grand Harbor Resort is located on the banks of the Mississippi River and features an indoor waterpark. Organic meals will be served throughout OCIA’s Annual Meeting. Early-bird registration discounts will be available before January 7th for members attending both days of the meeting.
